Blankets for rough sleepers made out of crisp packets

A group of young people have helped make 40 lifesaving blankets for rough sleepers out of recycled crisp packets.

The Mini Youth Group at Dalmuir Barclay Church in Dalmuir near Clydebank in West Dunbartonshire collected around 3,000 wrappers which were opened up and ironed together to fashion polythene lined waterproof covers.

The blankets – assembled after the empty packets were washed, dried and quarantined for 72 hours - bear messages like “Take Care” and “God Bless”.
