Celebrate the light of the world with Christingles - Rev Linda Stevens

Rev Linda Stevens of Glens and Kirriemuir Old Parish Church is one of our ministers who will be holding a Christingle service on Sunday 23 December at 4pm. The service is run in collaboration with Cortachy Primary School's parents' council. Here, she has written a prayer on the theme of Christingle for us.

Rev Linda Stevens

Creator of light

Bringer of light

Power of light

Flicker into the shadows of our winter days.

Your Christ light glows from our Christingles

Warming, guiding and encouraging us this advent

As we bask in its glow,

may we pause to remember and pray for our world.

The world symbolised by the orange we hold.

The world in need of our care, compassion and action.

As the red ribbon wraps around our orange,

echoing your love in action,

may we feel that unreserved, unconditional love wrapping around us

The sweets and fruits jut out on their distinctive sticks,

reminding us to give thanks for all the goodness that is ours.

Reminding us that we too can bear fruit

as we aim to reflect Christ’s light

in to the lives of those we encounter this season.

In Jesus’ name,
